What was Sega Model 2?

Sega Model 2 is the arcade system board Sega built as the successor to Model 1. It was co-developed with GE Aerospace (later part of Lockheed Martin) for texture-mapped graphics, which gave its 3D games surfaces instead of flat-shaded polygons. Daytona USA was its first game, followed by Virtua Fighter 2 and Virtua Cop, and in 1996 Sega unveiled its successor, Sega Model 3.
